A Father's Advice
(A poem for the bride and groom at their wedding feast)
The years have passed, you've had your flings,
now Rachel's married Trevor,
work together on mutual things
and your Team should last forever.
There will be times you won't agree,
just talk things through and you will see,
instead of banging each other's head,
resolve your problems before going to bed.
Learn from things already seen,
mistakes by others there have been.
Your relationship can only thrive
where disagreements don't survive.
When you are right, your partner too
could also be as right as you.
Although your rights are not the same,
see one another's point of view.
Compromise, and both will gain.
Set your sights on what you want,
then work together your goal to score.
No dream's impossible if it's been done up front
by someone else who's gone before.
