Astrology Profiling - Chinese Style
Having researched Western astrology I turned to the Chinese, where past experience has satisfied me as to the accuracy of the Chinese in Personality Matching. After all, Chinese astrology goes back thousands of years
My Chinese sign is The Dog, and the Chinese reckon the Tiger or the Horse to be the most compatible match. My analysis would reverse the order, with Horse in preference to Tiger. The Tiger is, after all, a big cat, and we all know what sort of relationship could develop there.
Apparently, those born in the Year of the Dragon are the least likely to match with the Dog. This presented me with a challenge when I was contacted by a Lady Dragon. There was a strong magnetic attraction for the lady, and what I found forms the basis of, and is the reason for, this report.
Not only is this Dragon lady given a lowly 20% compatibility rating with the Dog, but she's far from being a Libra or a Leo. Born under Cancer, her compatibility with the Dog only gets a 60% rating.
Now, at first glance, that doesn't look like a hot bet for success in my book. So I dug up as much information as possible, from many sources including the lady, and pulled it all apart.
Negative aspects for compatibility can be dismissed by reason of lessons learned, or should have been learned, through living life, maturity, and previous broken relationships by both parties.
Couple that with the similarities of the 2 parties in how they communicate, what they both wish to achieve, their educational levels, their ages, and their professions, past and present... and the picture is far more promising for a successful relationship.
You read earlier that my Sun sign is Gemini with Cancer rising, and how Cancer influences me, in characteristics or personality, at an even rate to Gemini. Whatever significance you place on this, or any of this whole piece, is a matter for individual opinion.
Personally, finding similarities between us, as well as differences, should make for an interesting relationship. After all, it would take a mighty ego to choose a partner who's a carbon copy of one's self.
Just like the passionless couple mentioned earlier in Part 1 of this analysis, Astrology Profiling Benefits, they might match... but they might also have a pretty dull relationship. Two apples make an uninspiring and lack-lustre fruit cocktail.
I found the whole process interesting, revealing, and well worth the time and effort taken. This relationship feels worthy of pursuit.
Here follows a Chinese profile showing the difference between a profile and the facts relating to the individual in question. This example refers to those born in The Year of the Dog (in my case, May 1946), and every 12th year thereafter.
Blue text signifies my comments and observations on the Chinese profile which continues in dark text. I hope it proves useful to you, and I hope you find it as interesting to read as it was for me to research and write.
In the West, the Dog is man's best friend, but in Chinese Astrology this Sign is a little more unpredictable than that. Dogs are loyal, faithful and honest and always stick to their firm codes of ethics. However, this Sign has trouble trusting others.
Maybe my birth sign is what makes me a strong dog lover, dog observer, and dog owner. Experience shows that dogs are friendly and trusting... until abused. Trouble trusting others must, therefore, come as the result of a negative action or experience to cause the mistrust. At least, in the real world.
It's generally quite trustworthy itself -- except for the occasional little white lies the Dog tells in order to make things go more smoothly. The Dog makes a wonderful, discreet and loyal friend (despite any white lies) and is an excellent listener.
Little white lies, as long as they don't concern major issues, often make life run much more smoothly (for all concerned). Again, this is not an exclusive to any sign (in my opinion). Telling lies over a big or potentially life-changing issue is dishonest and will be found out.
The Dog tends to root for the underdog. A keen sense of right and wrong makes it duty-bound to the core. The Dog's mantra seems to be, Live right, look out for the little people and fight injustice whenever possible.
Amen to that.
Dogs can also be rather dogmatic, too. They don't go in for light social banter; instead, they go straight for home, expostulating on the topics that are most important to them.
This is true where important issues are concerned. However, this is where, the Gemini side of my nature plays a part. Gemini have an interest in almost everything that IS interesting... and often things which are not very interesting at all. In other words... Gemini can chat the hind legs off a donkey on many diverse subjects.
Sometimes the Dog's narrow-minded or stubborn side can become apparent; this Sign has trouble staying light and calm when an important issue is at stake. This Sign can also be very temperamental; mood swings characterize its emotional life and often the Dog needs to run off to be alone in order to recuperate.
Part of the problem is the result of this Sign's load of irrational fears that turn into niggling anxieties that turn into hurt feelings and occasional grouchiness. This sensitive Sign needs to warm up to others over time and gradually learn to trust them. Without that trust as a foundation, Dogs can be judgmental and coarse.
Narrow-minded or stubborn, possibly... but I have the ability to see the other person's point of view; to accept their view as being their right to hold it; to concede that I might not be correct. It's highly unlikely that any human can be right on every issue, and the ability to concede in a discussion comes with maturity.
Temperament and mood swings were more of an issue when I was younger. Reading and learning over the years has taught me about emotions and how to rise from a down time. Admittedly, retreat to quiet seclusion might be best in extreme circumstances, but understanding the characteristics of a partner is a 2 way deal.
Every relationship would (in my opinion) benefit from reading "Men come from Mars, Women come from Venus"... but best benefit comes if BOTH partners read it together and discuss.
Irrational fears and niggling anxieties can apply to any birth sign where a partner, man or woman, has been aggrieved, abused or betrayed. I cannot agree that this trait is exclusive to any sign. Least of all a Gemini Dog who has matured and gained insights into the requirements for harmonious living.
The Dog's discerning nature does make it an excellent business person, one who can turn that picky, guarded nature into a keen sense of the truth of another's motives. Where love is concerned, Dogs often have a tough time finding the right match. They can be so anxious and overwrought in the romance dance that they'll stress their partner to the max!
In business I turned a hobby into a 10yrs business as a DJ and was obliged to quit when my marriage ended. At 46yrs old I learned a new skill as a service provider, and built a successful Podiatry practice, a field in which I had no previous knowledge or interest.
In love and relationships it's not been tough finding the right match. At this particular time the difference in age between myself and my future partner, plus the distance between us, makes caution necessary in the best interest of both parties.
In any forum, this Sign is happiest when able to be quite physically active; at home or at work, the Dog will always be constructing something new or cleaning something up in order to make things better. Dogs need to work on controlling their irrational worries and would also be well-served to relax their mile-high standards, which can sometimes wind up alienating the ones they love.
Doesn't everybody want to make things better? And why should there be irrational worries if the right partner is found? Especially if they truly Love, Honour and Respect one another, live to The Golden Rule, and Cherish their Relationship.
That just about wraps things up. You can see that even the Chinese profile can only give a rough idea of an individual. Whilst I have always found the basis of a Chinese profile to be more accurate than Sun sign profiling, the effects of environment, continued learning, and just living life itself can make your profile an entirely different thing.
In the final analysis, partner selection can only come as a result of getting to know your potential future partner as best you can with whatever means you have available. Honesty and openness on both sides are essential and, to quote a little piece of Ancient Wisdom,
"As ye sow, so also shall ye reap", or words to that effect.
God Bless...
...and be good to each other.
