Her Transition.
With all the loving words my lips in this time spake
they tumbled forth full knowingly
deep in her eager waiting ears they fell
she absorbed them all so gratefully.
Each new day, watching life, saw time pass her by
with small reward for all she did,
those things she'd made stood on the shelf
to gather dust so passively.
Then he came along
his song was sung
with words of love so sweet and plain,
did they blind her eyes
or did she realise
he was most sincere in all he claimed.
Her past had not been all that she had hoped
she'd suffered bad and seen the worst
only to move from fire to flame
yet still she'd made the best of it.
And now she thinks of so much higher things
a land of promise and her man
a man she still has yet to meet
but she'd welcome him without regret or shame.
As she sleeps in her bed,
love locked in her head,
feel his hands on her as he gently plays,
soft on her hips,
moving to her lips,
as she listens close to loving words he says.
Oh, would'st that he put his honey lips to mine
I'd gladly give him all I own.
Those words went tumbling through her mind
as she awoke to a bright new dawn.
To change her life would sorely challenge her
but she could not do it hurtfully
to the one who helped her in time of strife
she'd have to leave him lovingly.
There's one more line
to come in its time
and that's not yet but it won't be long.
If you remember then
you can ask me when
you're home and dry so we can finish this song.
Now, the die has been cast,
the words are writ,
I say what I mean and I've meant all of it.
When the deed's been done
you must move on
without guilt or blame and with no regrets.
