Merely an Internet Pawn
Self-proclaimed "Gurus" tell the innocent fools as they ask,
"You can earn, just like me in a day".
Soon all the newbies' high hopes
get dashed on the ropes,
after buying the course,
then to find a dead horse,
they say "Never again.
I shall not spend a cent in my name".
The Internet "Gurus", their cronies, their affiliates all say,
and the makers of goods claim the same,
"The secrets are here, I tell all to those who stay if you pay".
But the poor newbies pray
and repeat every day
like a stooge in a play
blindly follow the rules
but they don't have the tools
Sellers say "Go to Hell,
you didn't buy the upsell,
you just ain't got the skills for this game."
With a poverty history he yearned for a taste of success,
the learning soon overloaded his brain.
All the courses he bought,
confused more with each thought
and each "secret" they taught.
"You have wealth in your reach,
then go sit on the beach.
Just spend an hour a day,
then go out and play."
But he don't see the cash,
brings him out in a rash,
then a panic sets in
as they've caught him again...
He's losing a pile in their game.
In a last ditch attempt he decided to buy one last course,
the letter said "It has all that you need."
But the course later said "You need this resource,
this one is cool,
you must have this tool,
buy from my link,
the other sites stink,
if you want to be free,
just listen to me,
and do what I say,
yuh just gotta pay."
He feels like a pawn in the Internet game.
Our hero considered his options, his age and his skills,
his aims for making a mark in his life.
He considered his strengths
and thought of his bills,
"Will I make enough,
to provide for a wife,
doing things that I love,
will folks have a use
for the things I produce?
To help is my aim,
but I shall no more be screwed by this game.
